Frequently Asked Questions
Need some help?
Here are some of the Frequently Asked Questions we get asked about Laser Tag Parties and Events and Birthday Parties. We’ve put together this HELP CENTRE that should answer general questions.
Getting Started
Mobile Laser Tag offers a variety of SERVICES and PRODUCTS designed that allow you to customise your event or party to suit own your specific requirements or individual needs and budget.
The Basic Pricing Model
Services
Services Pricing
For Laser Game Birthday Party Bookings and events the price is calculated on the number of individual players (or quantity) and the specific time slot or duration chosen. Additional options and extras can be added to enhance the laser tag gaming experience or compliment the venue and field type you want us to host at.
Time Slot or Duration
The duration of your function, booking, party or event is chosen in one of three options:
60 Minutes
90 Minutes
120 Minutes
Certain Events require longer durations and are calculated based on previous event experience or specific requirements. This normally includes fundraising events, school and youth groups, church gatherings etc…
for more on these please view them here.
Mobile Call Out Fee
Call Out and Travel Fees are added to all bookings is a call out fee calculated by the estimated distance which also includes the field marshal / staff member will be present the entire time you’ve booked for (to manage and/or assist players)
Products
Bunkers and Obstacles
Depending on the terrain or environment, bunkers and obstacles are often essential to allow an exciting experience. Bunker sets and obstacle design can be generic or made to order.
Special Effects
Smoke and Fog Machines dramatically change the Laser Tag gaming experience and may invoke some of the laser quest days some of us remember so well. There are two variants available for hire.
Smoke Machines
Smoke Machines are small compact units that easily fill a scout hall or parts of an indoor arena (such as in a passage)
Fog Machines or fogger
For large halls such as schools or conference venues its best to choose an industrial fogger. Indoor (and even some outdoor facilities)
Glow Sticks
Glow sticks adds the neon colours, green, yellow, red, blue which compliments both the LED lighting on the equipment and the theme – perhaps like a star wars or 80’s or even an arcade video gamed theme.
Space Requirements
Ah, this is a tricky one… There is so set or ideal space because every battle field or venue has its own pro’s and con’s!
When it comes to space, more is sometimes better but it really boils down to the amount of players and the age group (or as we say “fitness levels”) of the players. Small children for example can easily use an area the size of a tennis court, or play around the house in the garden…Teens and Adults on the other hand may be happy to use a forest or park and in one case an old military aircraft hanger.
If space is an issue at home, we suggest using a local park nearby.
Another good way to go about checking if there is enough space to play is to think logically, will 16 kids be able to run and hide in the garden, or will 25 staff members be able to use the basement parking area at work!
if all else fails – one tennis court for every 6-8 players! But thats a guess on our side!
Players
Right of the bat, most people ask this question and some are more curious as to what the average party size should be… On average most birthday party events are between 15 – 24 players. Team Buildings around 25-35.
But lets look at this question more in depth, shall we?
Minimum Number of Players
We require a minimum of 12 players to book a laser tag event or party for 2 reasons:
- Game Logistics
- Viability
Game Logistics – The Equipment caters for up to 4(four) teams to play concurrently. A group of 15(fifteen) players therefore would be split into teams 5(five) (so 3(three) teams) and a group of 14 could be easily set up as 2(two) teams of 7(seven).
Viability – In short our experience shows that small groups dont have as much fun which may lead to a less than ideal time. This is bad for us because we rely on word of mouth as part of our Mission and Vision and hate to part a laser tag function or birthday party with any dissapointment!
Maximum Number of Players
For bigger groups and parties we suggest to keep your teams about 10(ten) and have up to four teams going at the same time as more than 40 -50 players does become a bit difficult for both you and us to manage and may require additional staffing to be provided
.
To date the big
Minimum Age Requirements
When it comes to Age groups for Laser Tag, players must be older than 6(Six) years old. Normally Primary school or Grade 1(one).
Siblings of other players may be included in certain cases but may not be able to keep up with the other players.
We Come to you!
Mobile Laser Tag can provide services for several types of venues. We do not offer a fixed venue but make use of several free locations and can also recommend several paid locations (which you’d have to hire yourself – We are working on securing discounts codes with these facilities)

Extra's
Bunkers and Obstacles
Do you bring extra Bunkers / Props or Obstacles?
In most cases we make use of whats available at your chosen venue or location. The best places to hide behind are normally already there like trees and shrubs in your garden or park. If you require additional bunkers to be brought (for example an open field or sports ground will be used for your booking) then you need to ask for additional bunkers to be added to your booking.
What Bunkers are there?
Bunkers create your battlefield and make your experience more enjoyable. Since we are Mobile Laser Tag, this means we have to accomodate for most types of terrain, often without prior knowledge of what the “field of play” looks like. The Bunkers and Obstacles (or props as some call them) come in many shapes and sizes. From inflatables to Canvass stands, Boundaries markers to bases. To simplify the range we offer we have broken bunkers in two categories:
- In-field Bunkers – Used in the battleground/play area
- Inflatable bunkers
- Canvass Stands
- Fold out (A Frame Walls)
- Box Type (for large events)
- Camoflauge Netting
- Boundary Bunkers
- Border Stands
- Boundary Tape (candy tape)
- Reflective Tape (Indoor use)

Pricing is Calculated at R100 per Bunker Set (Two per set)
